Harishchandra Gad is one of the best forts to trek and very popular fort for trekkers and nature lovers. The fort is situated near 'Malshej Ghat' in Junnar region. Ahmednagar Dist. It is famous for its height of 1424 Meters , its toughness and the famous 'Konkan Kada'. Konkan Kada is really tough and is a challenge for the trekkers. The height of Konkan Kada is almost 3500 feet. It is very tough but worth to see. There are 3 peaks in Harishchandragad namely - 'Rohidas' , 'Taramati' and 'Harishchandra'. Taramati peak is the highest one in the fort. Many peaks , fort and other beautiful places like Malshej Ghat, Jivdhan, Nane Ghat, Ratangad, Kalsubai etc. can be seen. There are some old caves on Taramati which are used by trekkers to rest and relax. A beautiful temple of 'Harishchandra' is pride for the fort. The temple is very old and some sculptures can also been read. It is said that Sant Changdev stayed here for some time and completed his manuscript - 'Tatwasaar'. The Nandi and Shivling in the temple are really wonderful. A cave nearby is always full of very cold water. The Konkan Kada is to back side of the temple. The view of Konkan Kada is very deep. A forest lover always enjoy 'Harishchandragad'. Many animals such as Tigers, Cheetah, Snakes, Swallow and Flamingo's can also seen if you are lucky.       One must visit Harishchandragad to enjoy the beauty of forest and specially for Konkan Kada.
